Mediation, Settlement and Rating Software
The profound concern of mobile operators around the globe is burgeoning roaming
fraud. The current HUR process is inadequate: records are delayed in getting routed
back to their home network, allowing roaming fraud to occur without immediate detection.
To combat this costly problem, the GSM Association is mandating the adoption by all
GSM 700 operators worldwide of Near Real Time Roaming Data Exchange (NRTRDE)
standards by October 1, 2008.
Total Software Solutions preempted the GSMA and has been offering their solution to
support NRTRDE and prevent roamer fraud. FMACS©, TSS’ cost efficient end-to-end
solution, is exactly what Operators have been searching for as their fraud management
solution.
FMACS© supports interfaces among NRTRDE Hub vendors, and allows for exchange between
fraud management roamer partners and current fraud systems.
It is FMACS concise optional processing modules that gives Operators a fraud management
end-to-end solution. These modules give the flexibility operators need when designing
a fraud management system; simply pick and choose the desired functions.
Our GSM FMACS© (Fraud Mediation and Conversion System) is a standalone application
that will run on any Linux system. FMACS© can run on its own server or in conjunction
with other GSM fraud systems on the same server. In addition, FMACS© can use any of
the following database releases:
Enhanced performance is achieved by loading into memory the tables needed to mediate
and convert input fraud files. FMACS© was developed using C++ object oriented coding
techniques. Here again, system performance is a very high priority and always a consideration
during development of the product, and the need to accurately process tens of
millions of records each hour is our primary focus.
Based on operator volumes, the system can be configured through the use of threads
and servers. Each server can support up to 8 threads for processing. Each thread can be
configured to process one large operator or many small operators. In addition, FMACS© can be configured with multiple servers (clustering) and each of those servers support
up to 8 threads.
Given this configuration (clustering and multiple threading), if any clustered server fails,
the processing will switch to another server for completion. Ultimately, the cluster of
servers also performs as the disaster recovery procedure. For disaster recovery purposes
the use of this configuration would require some of the clustered servers to be located in
alternate sites to ensure true disaster recovery capabilities.
Estimated processing power per thread is 10,000 records per second, times that by 8
threads equals 80,000 records per second per server. The system performance per hour
would be 288,000,000 records per server.
